How does garbage can cleaning work?

After your trash gets picked up, we come by (usually the next day) and clean your empty cans right at the curb. We pressure wash them inside and out with cleaning solutions that break down grime and knock out the bacteria causing odors, then leave them fresh. The whole thing takes a few minutes and you don't have to do anything.

Do I need to be home?

No. Just leave your empty cans at the curb on your scheduled day and we'll take care of them. We send text and email reminders beforehand so you know when we're coming.

Can I just clean my cans myself?

You definitely can, and some people do. The reason most folks have us handle it is convenience. Our pressure washers and cleaning solutions cut through the grime faster than a garden hose, and you skip the part where you're standing in your driveway getting splashed with whatever was at the bottom of the can. We do it in a few minutes so you don't have to think about it.

How often should I clean my garbage cans?

It depends on your household. A lot of Elmhurst families go monthly through the warmer months, since heat makes cans smell faster and brings out flies. Quarterly is plenty for lighter trash or cooler seasons. If you have pets, young kids, or a lot of food waste, monthly tends to work best.

For most people, yes. Cans build up bacteria, mold, and odor over time, and that smell tends to find its way into your garage or driveway. Having it done means it's handled regularly without you scrubbing anything or dealing with the mess yourself.

It helps a lot. The cleaning solutions and pressure washing remove the food residue and bacteria that cause odors and that flies and maggots are drawn to. Regular cleanings keep it from building back up.

How much does garbage can cleaning cost in Elmhurst?

Our plans cover up to 2 bins. It's $30 a month on the Monthly plan, $40 per visit on the Quarterly plan, or $85 for a one time cleaning. Extra bins are $10 each, and yes, we clean recycling cans too. You can see everything on our Pricing page.

Do you offer one time cleanings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A one time cleaning is $85 for up to 2 bins with no plan required. We'll usually get you scheduled the same week you book or the week after. It's a good option for a refresh or if you want to try us first.

Do you require a contract?

Accepted Answer

No long term contract. Our recurring plans do have a small minimum number of visits (the Monthly plan is a 3 visit minimum and the Quarterly plan is a 2 visit minimum) so we can keep your cans consistently clean. After that you're free to continue, pause for the season, or stop.

Do you offer any discounts?

The recurring plans are the better value on their own, since you pay less per cleaning than a one time visit. If you've got several bins or a neighbor who wants to sign up too, reach out and we'll work with you.

We clean spring through fall and pause over the cold winter months, since freezing temperatures make cleaning tough and less effective. You're not billed while we're paused, and your plan starts back up once it warms up.

What do I need to do on service day?

Just have your empty cans out at the curb. We come the day after your trash pickup, so leaving them out after collection is all we ask.

What if my cans are full or you can't find them?

If there's a little leftover trash, we'll handle it. If a can is completely full, we'll skip it that visit so we're not just washing garbage. And if your cans aren't out where we can find them, we won't be able to clean them that day.
